This CRNP position is for PRN employment. Candidates must be able to work the Hospital Emergency Room and a week of Rounds. 

Proposed Schedule:

  • One 12 hour ER shift per week
  • One week (7days) of inpatient rounds every 4th week

Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner will plan, direct, and evaluate patients care in ambulatory health services; examine and treat chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses; performs selected laboratory testing; offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions, and perform procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. The Nurse Practitioner will also work with the medical director in the care and treatment of patients and staff. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Sees ambulatory patients in the health services office or Emergency Room for laboratory testing, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries. Refers to physician as needed. Writes prescriptions and performs procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. 
•    Performs physical examinations (pap tests, etc.). 
•    Coordinates health promotional activities (providing printed information, routine testing, flu shots, mammograms, etc.). 
•    Examines staff after on-the-job accidents or injuries. 
•    Acts as a resource person for decisions, planning, and policies affecting the health of patients and staff. 
•    Collaborates with staff to identify patient needs and to help develop plan to meet these needs. 
•    Refers patients for specialty care when needed. 
•   Serves as a member of committees dealing with health care.

•    Performs inpatient rounds for 7 days every 4th week -AND- one 12 hour shift per week

Education and Experience:
•    Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program. 
•    Current approval by the joint Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing to perform medical acts. 
•    Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state. 

 

Physical Requirements: 
•    Able to lift 100 pounds to assist fallen residents. 
•    Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions. 
•    May be exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards.
