Job Information Position Classifcation: This position is classified as Per Diem (PRN). A per diem employee works on an as needed basis.
This job description covers the most significant duties performed but does not exclude other work assignments not mentioned. SUMMARY The Patient Care Technician (PCT) implements, monitors and documents patient care depending on established criteria, under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. He/ She has the responsibility of handling and serving patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort. Performance is limited to those acts in which training has been received. |
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Rooms and triages patients, obtain vitals, patient history and reason for seeking care. 2. Adds current home medications list to patient chart. 3. Documents appropriately in the patients EMR results of procedures performed. 4. Responsible for patient flow from waiting area to exam rooms. |
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for attending staff meetings. 2. Attends in-services and mandatory meetings. 3. Adheres to the dress code, attendance, and all other company policies and procedures. 4. May be cross trained for the front desk. |
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS 1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Good verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to changing work schedules and patient needs, and knowledge of medical terminology. 3. Current CPR or BLS certification 4. One year experience as PCT/CNA and one year of clerical experience preferred. |
WORKING CONDITIONS 1. May be exposed to the risk of communicable diseases and radiation. 2. May require handling of unclean or infectious materials. 3. Normally works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated area. 4. Must be able to work under the stress and conditions that normally exist in a clinical setting. 5. Classification Category I – Tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. |
