Hours: 

8 hour shifts a day/ 40 hours a week

 

Position Details:

This position requires cross-training to support both the hospital and the adjacent hospital clinic, as daily work hours will be divided between the two locations.

SUMMARY

The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for cleaning patient rooms and support areas and maintaining the organization’s interior in an attractive, sanitary, and orderly condition.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Routine cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, entranceways, waiting areas, patient areas, and associated locations.
  2. Utilizes appropriate chemicals and supplies according to manufacturing direction and hospital and clinic policy and procedure.
  3. Maintains a clean and neat cart, station, closet, and equipment storage area.
  4. Works day, evening, night, and weekend shifts as assigned with little or no supervision.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists visitors with directions and maintains patient confidentiality.
  2. Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
  3. Follows all Infection Control practices, including bio-hazard waste handling, hand washing techniques, and standard or isolated precautions.
  4. Attends staff and educational meetings.
  5. Adheres to the dress code, attendance, and all other company policies and procedures.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.  This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  2. Ability to perform under stress confronted with an emergency.
  3. Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. May be subject to hazards such as chemicals, slippery floors, dust, fumes, odors, and aerosol sprays.
  2. May require handling of unclean or infectious materials.
  3. Possibility of cuts or minor burns from instruments and equipment.
  4. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
  5. Standing for sustained periods of time.
  6. Frequent walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, climbing.
  7. Classification Category I – Tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
